Family Goodbyes in Southern California

So the long journey to New Zealand started on December 28th. The trip started with 2 hours of sleep and a flight from Seattle to Palm Desert to visit Mama and Papa Ladenburg. For those who have never flown to Palm Springs we need to point out some peculiarities of this flight. It is a retirement flight for the brave ‘snow birds’ who ventured away from the sun to see family on Christmas. The average age was over 70 and people had to be cautious not to swallow dentures as they slept.

After Palm Desert came Tour De Relatives. It was a fun quick trip through Sun City to Riverside into the lovely pasture called Corona…no this is not where the beer is made but farmland turned to suburb. It was great to see all of the family and meet the new cousins. We appreciate all of the hospitality from everyone we saw and stayed with. Thanks for making the trip easy and fun.
