The first day in Auckland

We arrived to the Trinity house, Steve and Lois Webster, at 2:30 in the morning. Wow! We were super duper tired! They had set up a nice little quarter of the house though for us – connected to the bathroom and everything! Needless to say, we immediately hit the hay. Zzzzzzzzzz

We woke to sunlight streaming in through the skylights in our little room, and children playing. There were a lot of people in the house that morning! We met Lois and Steve again, their son Tim and his wife Caroline and their children Benna, Georgia and Kyle There were also two Italian gals staying – Margarita and Liza! There was a “family meeting” where all of the rules of the house were layed out and we were fully welcomed! Fantastic!

After some breakfast we had a tour of Ponsonby (the small area we are staying in Auckland) with Steve. We were trying to get used to driving on the correct side of the road by watching him and he dropped us off after showing us historic Ponsonby to open our bank accounts. We attempted to go look at a few cars, but that mostly failed and we returned to the house to have some Mexican lunch – tacos and beans. Lois is fairly hilarious – she invited over a lot of people that day to catch up with them – it felt like everytime we turned around we were getting to know someone new. However, we drank some beer, had lunch, sat around and socialized.

Mexican was also the choice for dinner and later that night we watched the sunset behind their house as we had some wine next to the fire in their backyard – truly an unforgettable first day! Marian was feeling like she could breath again – so refreshing out here!

We are loving the time we get to spend in Ponsonby with our home away from home and Lois and Steve – great advice mom!
