Picton to Motueka

We enjoyed a nice ferry ride from Wellington to the South Island with only one of us getting seasick. We arrived at 12:45 in the morning and some friends on the ferry showed us a parking lot in Picton at the RSA (Return Serviceman Association) to sleep. So we slept in the back of our new car!

We woke up early due to our friends warning of the staff showing up and drove out to Nelson on the Queen Charlotte Drive. Along the way we got some pictures of Picton Harbor and a few other harbors along the way.

Once in Nelson we saw some of the sites around the area. We went to the Nelson Cathedral, the Nelson Beach NAME, a beach park, the Center of New Zealand and we walked on a trail full of grazing sheep. It was nice overall but cloudy and a little rain through out the day.

We then had dinner before we drove to the Motueka Holiday Park (AKA nice KOA camping) where we will set up camp to see the Abel Tasmen and the Golden Bay.

  1. Yeah...I've herded sheep on those trails and hills near Nelson. Been there, herded that!

  2. Such GORGEOUS country--you are lucky to see it. Your car and tent look pretty cool too! :)
