Routebourn Track

For logistical reasons we are not going to be able to do the entire track since we left our car at one end of the trail. To see as much of the hike as possible, we did an out and back from our campsite to the Routeburn Falls Hut (what would be the 2nd night for most campers).

Here is a picture of Lake Mackenzie from a different view on our way out of the valley:

It was a long day along the mountainous trail with more views of the valley.

When we got to the Harris saddle we took a break. John hiked up Conical Hill just to check out the view and hopefully see the Tasman Sea but the clouds hid this view from him.

We then continued out past Harris Lake through a valley with a long river with several small waterfalls. Finally we got to the top of the Routeburn falls. We got a few pictures of the valley and then headed the 7 miles back to camp.

Once we made it back to the campsite we hopped in the lake to ice our muscles and it also helped keep us clean…well relatively speaking. 14 miles of hiking in one day woo!
