Mechanical repairs and Wanaka

Today we drove to the Fox Glacier to have the mechanic repair our flat. Of course, it was not repairable. Of course, we had to replace not one, but two of the tires so the axle could do its axle thing. Nothing 332 dollars can’t fix. WAIT – did I just say $332!!!!???

Okay, so actually that sucked, but whatever – its all part of the adventure (as long as you have the doe). So John suggest, lets drink our troubles away and split a mocha before hitting the road. Here we are enjoying its specialness.

Sorry its cloudy, my camera was still wet and didn’t feel like working.

Then we decided to hike the hour out to the “terminal face” of the Fox Glacier. Here is possibly the worst picture of John and I ever taken. I keep laughing at it. Boy do we look silly.

We drove on down to Wanaka then. The drive was really beautiful for the parts that I was awake for. We saw this thing…..

If anyone knows what in God’s green earth its used for – 10 points. We believe it is used to drive slowly and annoy vehicles on the highway.

Here is a picture of the coastline along the way:

We arrived in Wanaka, and pretty much made dinner, set up camp, walked to the lake, hit the hay.

Here is a picture of the lake at night:

  2. May the good news is that you need to multiply the 335 by .72 to get the true cost in good old US Dollars! Either way that sucks. Stay safe and please for my sake as an MBA student that cares too much about data when using prices please state USD or NZD. Later and have fun. Also the Dollar is on a strengthening trend right now.
