After the jump we watched a few more people for fun and then went back to the campsite for lunch.
After lunch we did our second activity of the day, whitewater rafting down the Shotover River. This was a fun little trip but we felt the drive out to the river was more thrilling than the rapids themselves. We drove through a mountainside on a 2 wheel drive van pulling 4 rafts on an old narrow mining road. The guides liked to bring up the fact that the cliffs are made of a brittle rock that frequently has mud slides…luckily it was a dry day. Unfortunately since we were going rafting we didn't have any cameras to take pictures.
Once on the boat we headed on the river with a questionable crew. Other than the 2 of us, there was an older annoying Australian couple, an Englishman, 2 Australian teens and the guide. The guide was fun, especially when he made his Australian jokes. As for the rapids, they were short and not too big. The trip was fun nonetheless.
In the evening we took a short walk through pretty little Queenstown and got some more ice cream!!
F*ck gravity. John jumps where he wants. He's a man. Yeahhh.
ReplyDeleteWow John! Way to go! How close to the bottom did you go? Better than pole vaulting I'll bet!
